More Rambling

sunny 21 °C

Moving up the coast by Sunday or Monday. And going to see the BIG 5 on the safari. Can’t wait so stay tuned for pics of that and i will be putting pics up of some surfing. Waves have been really good lately which is why i haven’t written in the past few days. I live off everyone’s comments they are awesome the email is nick_fairman@yahoo.com if anyone wants to send me one. Hope everything is good back in the sates. Looks like i will be in Bali by Sep 5 or so but as of now none of my plans are in concrete. Being in the house is awesome. I am the youngest of about 10 guys and have been labeled as the apprentice or grommet. Doing dishes regularly for everyone and learning more than i would be if i was in college ha-ha .i know Ma didn’t want to hear that. It also looks like i might be able to last the entire year. All of the travelers say i am cheating my self if i don’t go ATLEAST a year. We will see. Tonight is a big party at a local establishment so the whole house looks to be going. I am starting to get a peak into the local scene around here and it is kind of odd. There are so many houses here that are not inhabited most of the year because they are all vacation houses. Also i have never been haggled for money as much as i have by the poor people here. There are tons up and down the streets and at night there is a supposed gang of about 20 kids between 10 and 15 years old. This town is said to be unlike most of the rest of s.a. because they say this country is one of the most dangerous countries in the world and practicing good safety is a must. This fact makes me kind of nervous to travel up to east London which is a few hours up the coast. I guess that’s when i will get in real traveling mode. Wish me luck!!! CHEERS!!!!

Up In Flames

sunny 21 °C

Haha ok so here is the jest of how last night went. I am learning another great recipe from Dr. Pete the Aussie who knows jus about everything in the world because he has traveled for like two years alone. so anyways i am stirring the pot of veggies and got to watch some TV while the cook and i am sitting on the couch and some one shouts "your jacket" and i look at them thinking do u like it or something haha and then it burst into flames up the side and i start running around and flailing like a crack head. Long story short i stomped it out and now have a pretty funny story minus i nice jacket ha-ha. Just life on the road with Fairman... other than that everything is good over here. I am trying to plan a trip to a safari so you all can see the big 5.

Chef Nick

cooking.JPGfood.JPG
so i got a cooking lesson a couple of nights ago from one of the aussies cooked some real good pasta with mince(hamburger meat) then last night back to the basics with baked beans on toast. If anyone wants to send me cheap and easy recipes i would love it. It stinks watching everyone around here cook like champs and i am eating ramen noodles fro dinner and lunch ha-ha. Not much going on today. Tomorrow after my surf i plan to head into town and give u all a picture tour of the town. Might head out in a few weeks to other parts of s.a., one of the airlines here has a special of 40 dollars for a flight anywhere in the country. Stoked!! Miss you all , Nick

Beautiful Day

Finally found out what to do in town besides surf. Last night some of the Israeli guys staying here brought me to island vibes, a backpacker hangout popular with the stinky Europeans. Had fun but stayed out to late especially for the projected 6 am wakeup call this morning. The surf was super fun this morning right at day break and I surfed for about 3 hours. Got my first barrel of the trip. Probably doesn’t mean that much to most of you. After the surf met some real cool people from Cape Town that are staying at the surf packers hostel. They offered a room to me within the next month if I wanted to go to Cape Town and they live right by the beach so that might be an option maybe a couple weeks down the road. I also traveled about 45 minutes down the coast with a surfer mag. photographer that was sent here to do a portrait of the area for a surf book. Real informative guy. we went to seal point to check the waves looked real good but no one out and is known top be one of the sharkiest places is s.a. so I decided to not go out. I know that just stoked my mom. I think i am starting to fight a sinus infection so i might sleep the rest of the day because i feel like crap. Town and surf is very crowded today because of a national holiday Women’s Day. What is that all about?! Haha just kidding, it is a new holiday to celebrate the hard working women in this country. Just another excuse to not do any work. Included some photos of last night and today. All around j bay except for the last one at seal point. From now on i might just put all my photos in my photo library on this sight so check that out. Well hope everyone is doing well and i know most are starting school again or getting ready top. IM SORRY that sucks i bet you you would rather be looking over the ocean and having all the time in the world to do just about nothing . Enjoy every bit of life no matter what conditions it brings. Adios nick
